It’s Monday! What are you Reading? is hosted by Kathryn at the bookdate. This is where you can talk about what you have read, what you are currently reading, and what you are about to read.
Hello,
It’s been so long since I have done one of these that I decided to add one since I was able to finish some books last week.
I hope everyone who celebrated Mother’s Day yesterday had a good day.
This past week was pretty busy as I started work this week and I had an unexpected tooth abscess that I am healing from. I do feel a lot better than I did last week and I am starting to eat other foods again. Last week I was mostly eating chicken broth and I did have chicken noodle soup a couple of times as well. I did have to take a couple of days off work though I did work Friday afternoon and Sunday afternoon. I also work today and I go in tomorrow and work for most of the day. I also started my online classes today so I am looking forward to those as well and I already have 3 or 4 assignments due this week. I was also able to make a lot of progress with some library books that I had over the weekend and am hoping to read a few more this week as well depending on how much hw I have to do.
What I read last week:
Free to fall by Lauren Miller:
I enjoyed this one a lot better than I thought would. When I first picked it up I was a little hesitant about it, but once I got into the story it became really fast paced and I couldn’t stop reading it until I had finished. The chapters were also really short which helped as well (4 stars).
Don’t stop now by Julie Halpern:
This one wasn’t my favorite book that I have read but I am glad that I read it as it helped with quite a few challenges on Goodreads, and it has been on my shelf since 2014 (3 stars).
Reflection: The stranger in the mirror (#1) by Rachel R. Smith:
The writing style for this one was a little choppy for the first %25 for me but after that, it started flowing really well and it became interesting. I definitely loved the characters and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book in this series (3.5/5 stars).
The Haven by Carol Lynch Williams:
I enjoyed reading this one though I feel like it could have been a little longer or maybe been in a duology. I wasn’t a huge fan of the main character, Shiloh, but I did like some of the other characters. This one was definitely a quick read and it helped with some challenges that I have on Goodreads as well (3 stars).
Currently reading:
The bone witch (#1) by Rin Chupeco:
This one started out slow for me but once I got past around %25 it got a little more interesting. There is not much action going on yet but I feel that something might happen. I’m hoping to make some progress with it this week hopefully.
Captain Blood by Rafael Sabatini:
This is one of two classics that I need to finish for one of my challenges. I haven’t gotten very far into it yet so I don’t know what to think of it, but the book seems interesting so far.
The shining (#1) by Stephen King:
This the second classic that I am hoping to make some progress on this week. I have to admit I am not quite sure of what to think of it yet as I have only read the first few pages so far. This is also my first Stephen King book so I am slightly imitated by it but I am also excited about it as I love horror novels so hopefully it will go well.
Tiger’s voyage (#3) by Colleen Houck:
This one has been kind of slow-going for me for some reason as I loved the first two but I haven’t made a lot of progress with this one yet. I’ve read almost 200 pages so far so I’m hoping to finish it this week since I have been reading it for a long time.
Immortal Reign (#6) by Morgan Rhodes:
This one is one of my most anticipated new releases this year so I am really excited to start it this week and can’t wait to see how it ends. I’m also a little sad about it though as well because I picked it up when I was in high school a few years ago and have been reading the series ever since. I’m about halfway so far so I am hoping to finish it by the end of the week.
Up Next:
So this is what I have planned for this week. I am planning on finishing up quite a few books though I am not entirely sure about how much hw I will have during the next couple of days since classes started today. I plan on making some progress though.
Hope you guys have a good week!
