Hello,
It’s Monday! What are you Reading? is hosted by Kathryn at the bookdate. This is where you can talk about what you have read, what you are currently reading, and what you are about to read.
It’s been a little while since I have written a post so I hope to have a few more up by the end of the week.
I hope
I can’t believe that it is July already. I put in my 2-week notice at work a couple of weeks ago since I have to go back to school though I will be staying on and working about one day a month throughout the semester so I can come back to work during Christmas and summer again. I have about a week and a half of work and then I will have a week of vacation though I will be spending a weekend at my grandparent’s house. Luckily I still have a lot of things still packed up from the previous semester so I will just have to do some last minute shopping before school starts again. I did get to finally catch up on some library books that I have been reading since May, and I returned those today. I will have a smaller TBR for August but I do still have some books that I have to catch up on over the next couple of weeks.
Books I read last week:
Legendary (#2) by Stephanie Garber:
This one was definitely really good though there were times where it did get a little slow. I love the cover too and would definitely recommend it (4.5/5 stars).
Gemina (#2) by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff:
This one took me a lot longer than I thought it would to finish, but I finally finished it. This one wasn’t quite as good as the first one but I am looking forward to seeing how the third one ends (4 stars).
The diviners (#1) by Libba Bray:
This one is hard for me to rate because I loved the story itself, but I did not like the main character that much. This is the second book that I have read by this author I think I enjoyed The great and terrible beauty better. I would still recommend it though if you are looking for a good mystery/historical fiction novel. I will also be picking up the second book Lair of dreams at some point though it may be a while before I do (3 stars).
Uprooted by Naomi Novik:
I was definitely surprised by this one. There were times where I thought it was slow and a little predictable but there were also times where I wasn’t expecting things to happen as well. This is one that I would also recommend (4 stars).
The forever song (#3) by Julie Kagawa:
This one was my least favorite in the trilogy but I did think it ended well though. My favorite characters were Jackal and Kanin. I’m glad that I was finally able to finish this series though (3.5 stars).
A million suns (#2) by Revis:
This was another that I am not exactly sure what to rate. There were times where I wasn’t really sure about though once I got closer to the end it did make more sense. There were a couple of scenes that were surprising and I am looking forward to seeing how the series ends in the third book which I picked up from the library today (4 stars).
Currently reading:
This mortal coil (#1) by Emily Suvada:
I have no idea what to think about this one yet. It’s definitely a little bit more gory than I thought it would be but it seems interesting so far. I should be able to finish it in the next few days or so.
The darkest part of the forest by Holly Black:
I”m definitely enjoying this one more than I thought I would. This one was one of my library reads for July so I should be able to finish it by the end of the week.
Fatal voyage (#4) by Kathy Reichs:
I”m in a mystery phase for some reason and knew that I had to continue this series. I read the first book back in January and thought it was pretty good so I picked up the other books over the summer. I should be starting this one tomorrow hopefully. I also picked up the next 3 books in the series. There are definitely some things that are different from the TB series but there are also some things that I haven’t quite gotten used to but the series is interesting so far.
Obsidio (#3) by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff:
This one was available on my Overdrive account so I thought I would go ahead and pick it up. I just started it but it is really good so far. I should be finished with it in the next week or so.
Up Next:
So this is what I have planned for this week. I should have my Wrap-up/TBR post up this week two. I’ll be setting this one up a little different though since I missed June’s wrap-up as well.
Wow, you got a lot of reading done. I still need to get a copy of Obsidio. I should probably reread the first two books first. I don’t remember what happened in them.

I read Spinning Silver this month and I didn’t really like it. 😦 So I still don’t know if I’m gonna give Uprooted a chance.
